The Collectionist Sydney

Sydney’s hospitality scene has welcomed a bold new concept in boutique accommodation with the launch of The Collectionist Hotel in Camperdown. As Sydney’s first custom interior design hotel, this innovative space redefines how guests experience both design and travel, placing creativity, individuality, and personal choice at the centre of every stay.

Located in Sydney’s vibrant inner-city precinct, The Collectionist marks the debut of a new hotel brand set to expand across Sydney and interstate. More than just a place to stay, it offers a curated design experience, blurring the lines between boutique hotel, gallery, and residential interior inspiration.

Described as a real-life “choose-your-own-adventure”, The Collectionist Hotel introduces a completely new approach to hotel stays. Rather than being assigned a room, guests are invited to explore and select their space on arrival, choosing based on interior style, colour palette, textures, and overall design aesthetic.

This concept challenges the traditional hotel model, where uniformity and predictability often dominate. Instead, it places interior design at the forefront, allowing guests to engage with spaces in a more personal and meaningful way.

At the heart of the hotel’s identity is its diverse and highly curated interior design offering. The Collectionist collaborated with seven designers from four leading design studios, alongside 13 artists, to create 39 individually designed hotel rooms and a distinctive lobby space.

Each room is completely unique, showcasing a range of styles from bold and expressive to minimal and refined. This level of variation brings a gallery-like quality to the hotel, positioning it as a destination for design lovers and those seeking boutique hotel design inspiration in Sydney.

The guest experience is designed to be as modern as the interiors themselves. A fully digital booking and check-in process allows guests to access their rooms via secure codes delivered through email and SMS—streamlining the arrival experience.

Despite this tech-forward approach, The Collectionist maintains a strong sense of hospitality. A daily social hour, hosted by a bartender between 4pm and 8pm, creates an opportunity for guests to connect—adding warmth and personality to the stay.

Rooms are categorised into four types, based on size and access to outdoor spaces, providing flexibility for different travel needs. However, it’s the individuality of each room that truly defines the experience.

From layered textures and curated artwork to bold colour palettes and bespoke furnishings, the interiors elevate the standard of hotel interior design in Sydney. Each space feels intentionally designed, more like a styled apartment than a traditional hotel room.

The Collectionist Hotel sets a new benchmark for boutique accommodation in Australia, where interior design becomes the experience, not just the backdrop. By combining curated interiors, flexible room selection, and a personalised guest journey, it offers a fresh perspective on modern travel.
