Located in Randwick, Sydney this 3 storey, boutique townhouse is tucked away in a discrete little laneway.
The Stylesmiths were tasked with the challenge of full interior design transformation for the family of 4 with two young boys who were starting to outgrow their home.
The project aim was to better utilise the space by changing the existing layout and design smart storage solutions. Our clients wanted us to focus on the children’s bedrooms, lounge and dining room as well as the guest room with primary focus on furniture layouts and storage.
We had lots of creative freedom on this project, which was great. A key feature is the custom designed entertainment unit. The TV was originally positioned underneath the staircase because the client thought it would be too tricky to move all the electrics to the opposite wall which was concrete and backed onto the garage. To achieve this, we designed the joinery so it would house all the cables, which we ran through the bulkhead above.
We love the dining room – it’s a multi-functional space with a study nook concealed in the custom joinery. Not only is the space great for entertaining but also for when our client is working from home or helping the kids with their homework.
We layered a lot of different textures to create interest in the space – fabric upholstery with metal accents in occasional furniture and accessories. Majority of the joinery was kept white with oak veneer for warmth. The finishes worked beautifully together and completely lifted the space.
