Understanding dimensions, the true finishes of surfaces and predicting how the space will conform to your lifestyle are all important yet tricky considerations when purchasing a new home off the plan. The Stylesmiths™ were able to lend a helping hand to downsizing couple Dina and Geoff, who were excited to start fresh with all new furniture but needed some expert guidance when it came to spatial planning.
The Stylesmiths™ wanted to create a space that helps our clients ‘live well,’ taking into consideration their lifestyle and pair of friendly Dalmatians that live indoors alongside their owners. Preparing detailed concept sketches that illustrated the sought-after manoeuvrable space paired with rich, inviting textures, was a key step to delivering on the brief of open, airy and uncluttered living.
Inspired by the surrounding Melbourne suburb and neighbouring nature reserve, The Stylesmiths™ combined a collection of quality furnishings that are naturally based, warm and organic. Harmoniously layered to create depth against the existing built environment, a grey hand knotted Armadillo & Co rug lays the foundation for subtle tonal colour to be visually heard in the main living zone. Emerald green cushions accent the understated texture of the nubuck, tan leather sofa that is both parts beautiful and comfortable. A marble plinth coffee table introduces pattern via calming, organic veins that envelop the solid structure. Weighted and low lying, it can’t be knocked over by excited passing dogs, making it a practical choice that doesn’t fall short on style.
Deep walnut counter stools sit at the kitchen island bench, contrasting against the cloudy stone and blonde, wooden cabinetry. Replicating this oiled timber in custom entertainment unit, entryway console and Great Dane dining table forges a sense of connection throughout the home’s interior. Similarly, rounded details offer a gentle nod to the architecturally curved walkway, including the cylindrical pendant light in American walnut, from Alex Earl Lighting, which combines the two design languages. Artisan dining chairs with custom studio art leather, feature curved backrests and sit around an oval dining table. Their grey upholstery references the elements in kitchen and lounge that together share in a balanced and soothing design, bathed in dappled sunlight passing through linen drapes.
