Cafe Society is a refined example of contemporary café interior design in Sydney, brought to life through a creative collaboration between The Stylesmiths™, Like Minded Projects, and Fred Gets. Designed to balance multiple brand identities within a single cohesive space, the project delivers a bold yet approachable hospitality environment that feels both curated and highly functional.
Located within a striking street frontage, the interior design was intentionally developed to contrast the building’s stark exterior. A palette of polished metals, crisp white walls, and light birch timber creates a bright, modern foundation, setting the tone for a clean, design-led café experience.
At the heart of the space, polished concrete floors and a 10-metre-long concrete bench establish a strong architectural presence. These raw, industrial elements anchor the design, creating a sense of scale and durability often seen in modern café interiors.
To balance this, softer elements have been layered throughout. A vertical plant wall at the entrance introduces greenery and warmth, immediately softening the space and enhancing the customer experience. Sculptural pendant lighting with organic forms adds visual interest, while warm nude-toned seating creates a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.
A key consideration in the project was maintaining a vegan-friendly interior design approach. Carefully selected materials, such as vinyl seating in soft neutral tones, ensure the space aligns with ethical design principles while still achieving a premium aesthetic.
Subtle detailing, including custom brass fridges and a restrained palette of greys and nudes, allows the interior to feel elevated without becoming overly complex. This balance is essential in hospitality design, where both durability and visual appeal must work together seamlessly.
Cafe Society brings together three distinct brands, Fred Gets, Coffee Supreme, and Ace Raw Cookies, within a single environment. The design solution needed to unify these identities while allowing each to retain its individuality.
Through a cohesive material palette and thoughtful spatial planning, the interior achieves this balance. The result is a space that feels consistent and curated, yet flexible enough to support multiple offerings, an increasingly important consideration in modern café and hospitality design.
Working within a defined budget, the project demonstrates how cost-effective materials can be used in innovative ways to achieve a high-end result. By focusing on proportion, texture, and strategic detailing, the design maximises visual impact without relying on expensive finishes.
This approach highlights the value of thoughtful interior design, proving that well-considered material selection and layout can elevate even the most modest budgets.
Cafe Society stands as a strong example of modern café fitout design in Sydney, where industrial elements, soft textures, and brand storytelling come together to create a memorable space.
