This interior design project, executed by The Stylesmiths for a residence in Hunters Hill, Sydney, blends of contemporary aesthetics with a serene and inviting ambiance. The overall design reflects a delicate balance between bold artistic expression and a soothing, neutral palette, making the space both striking and liveable.
The living room, bathed in natural light, features a harmonious mix of soft curves and clean lines. The primary colour palette is rooted in muted tones of cream, blush, and subtle pastels, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The choice of furniture, including the plush, rounded sofa and the pair of charming pink armchairs, evokes a sense of fun and contemporary interiors.
The textural contrast between the boucle fabric of the seating and the smooth, light wood of the coffee tables adds depth to the room, while the artwork by Nathan Betts on the wall introduces a playful yet sophisticated element. The painting, with its abstract figures and bold use of colour, anchors the room, drawing the eye and adding a layer of artistic contrast.
In the dining area, the design continues to emphasise warmth and texture. The natural wood of the dining table complements the soft grey upholstery of the chairs, creating a cohesive and inviting space. The dining chairs 1960’s Featherston Scape dining chairs are a statement in themselves , with their sculptural forms adding a touch of vintage vibes.
Dominating this space is a large, vibrant artwork by Cathrine Cassidy in shades of pink, yellow, and red. This piece serves as the focal point of the dining area, infusing the room with energy and warmth. The juxtaposition of the bold artwork against the otherwise understated design elements enhances the overall aesthetic, making the dining area a perfect blend of calm and dynamism.
The bedroom continues the theme of soft, neutral tones and natural materials. The custom wooden bed frame, with its integrated side tables, offers functionality and cosiness, grounding the room in a sense of calm and order. The bedding, in muted shades of blue and grey, adds to the serene ambiance, making the bedroom a true sanctuary.
The artwork by Nathan Betts above the bed, featuring a mix of warm and cool tones, introduces a subtle contrast to the room’s colour scheme. The minimalist black wall sconce further enhances the modern yet cosy feel of the space, providing a perfect balance between form and function.
