SJ&Co Hair Salon is a contemporary boutique salon in Northcote designed by The Stylesmiths to reflect the relaxed, stylish and highly personal identity of the SJ&Co brand. Located just north of Melbourne CBD, the salon interior balances functionality with elevated design, creating a welcoming beauty space tailored to both clients and modern working lifestyles.
Working closely with founder Sara Jade, The Stylesmiths developed a salon interior that feels bright, sophisticated and effortlessly connected to the creative culture of Northcote. A light-filled glass frontage opens into a spacious layout featuring curved mirrors, leather salon chairs and custom terrazzo workstations with subtle pink detailing. The result is a refined example of beauty salon interior design in Melbourne, where branding and customer experience work seamlessly together.
Terrazzo became a defining feature throughout the salon, used across custom worktops and flooring to create continuity and texture. Warm timber seating, soft white brick walls and layered greenery balance the darker ceiling finishes, creating intimate yet open spaces throughout the salon. Organic curves and sculptural forms soften the interiors and add a feminine edge to the contemporary design palette.
Designed with busy professionals in mind, the salon incorporates practical features including integrated power points, USB charging stations and flexible waiting areas that allow clients to comfortably work while visiting the salon. Timber beam detailing subtly separates wet and dry zones while improving acoustics within the busy commercial space, an important consideration in modern commercial and retail interior design.
