Simplistic Residence, situated in the heart of Ryde, Sydney, Australia, is a cosy and atmospheric residential interior haven. This multi-level duplex, spanning three floors, reveals spaces where simple charm seamlessly blends with modern living, creating an experience that embodies contemporary living with a touch of masculine sophistication. Its welcoming exterior and carefully curated interior design make Simplistic Residence a harmonious fusion of robust elegance and minimalist living. Our skilled Stylesmiths designer took cues from the client’s preference for a dark and contrasting color palette, and the goal was to infuse this aesthetic into every aspect of the project.
This project’s distinctiveness emerges from its seamless blend of minimalist architectural design and cosy residential interior spaces tailored for a small family. Striking a balance between the bold and sturdy architectural exterior and welcoming interior areas presented a unique challenge. Navigating the interplay between the masculine exterior elements and the universal appeal of the interior demanded a careful consideration of materials, colours, and lighting. The minimalist facade served as the inspiration for custom joinery throughout the entire house, allowing it to bridge the gap between boldness and livability. This continuity from the facade to the joinery sets this project apart.
Every element of the interior design of the residence was meticulously crafted to ensure both functionality and aesthetics. This comprehensive approach encompassed three bedrooms, including a master suite with an ensuite, additional bathroom designs, separate study areas, a fully-equipped kitchen design, an entertainment room, and a spacious living area.
Upon entering the residence, you’re greeted by an entry hall featuring alcove seating softly illuminated by integrated lights. This area smoothly transitions into a study nook, seamlessly connected by floor-to-ceiling joinery. This design not only enhances storage and functionality but also provides an enticing preview of what lies beyond.
Rich, dark walnut joinery ushers you into the expansive open-plan living area, where high ceilings welcome the gentle influx of natural light. The kitchen renovation seamlessly merges Japanese simplicity with bold, masculine elements, highlighted by a striking dark grey natural stone island that commands attention both as a centrepiece and a splash back. This is elegantly complemented by a linear panelled timber extractor. Completing the ensemble, Krystila BCN bar stools invite guests to gather in this welcoming space. The dining area effortlessly extends the cohesive design language from the kitchen, embodying a European minimalist concept. A prominent dark timber dining table takes centre stage, paired with round-back Muuto Cover Armchairs that showcase clean and understated leg details.
As you traverse the wide, finely cut oak floorboards, you enter the open-plan living area and the living room, where a floor-to-ceiling custom joinery TV unit welcomes you. This unit is tastefully adorned with a natural stone trim and features built-in alcove seating, skillfully enhancing the room’s spaciousness and providing extra seating for social gatherings. A low-profile B&B Italia sofa adds a touch of both playful and refined seating, its graceful curves resting atop a Minotti rug. Two Classicon Bell Coffee Tables, each of distinct heights and hand-blown from glass, invite relaxation, while an overhead lamp sets the mood with its perfect evening lighting. The living room boasts magnificent floor-to-ceiling windows and patio doors, adorned with linen curtains that imbue a sense of softness and ethereal ambiance. These elements seamlessly connect the space to an alfresco dining area, which gracefully extends into the lush lawn beyond.
The bedroom offers a tranquil retreat, radiating a softer ambiance compared to the rest of the house. It features built-in wardrobes and a sturdy bedside table with a substantial top, beautifully complemented by the exquisite Jardan Nelly table light. This design’s material theme seamlessly continues into the bathroom’s interior design. Walnut floating cabinetry is gracefully paired with natural stone countertops, while the ensuite boasts a striking wall adorned with matte-finish Japanese Kitkat tiles, accompanied by opal glass wall lights. Porcelain slab tiles grace the surrounding walls and floors, crafting a serene and contemplative sanctuary.
